Recipes :: Chocolate Pecan Blondies

It's gorgeous weather for a picnic! I know brownies are a big go-to dessert for picnics, but I have a recipe that's just as easy as pouring brownie mix from a box but even more delicious.... BLONDIES!

Blondies are the BFF to brownies and a new favorite of The Caramel Jar families. Chewy, buttery and chocolatey! I am positive that I can convert some of you brownie-holics to the lighter side.

Pass the milk!
Full recipe after the jump!

Pecan Chocolate Blondies
Adapted from Smitten Kitchen

8 tablespoons butter, melted
1 cup brown sugar
1 large egg
1 teaspoon vanilla
Pinch salt
1 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 cup chocolate chips
1/2 cup pecans

Chocolate and Pecans...Heaven!
Directions:

Butter or spray a square 8x8 pan.

Mix the melted butter with brown sugar and beat until smooth. Beat egg and vanilla. Incorporate salt, then flour. Fold in chocolate chips and pecans.

Pour mixture into your pan. Bake at 350°F 20-25 minutes, or until set in the middle.

Allow to cool, then cut into squares and enjoy!

The best part about these blondies is that you can swap out the chocolate chips and pecans for anything you want! Walnuts, macadamia nuts, white chocolate, or perhaps some salted caramels {wink wink!}

Until next time,

Your Chief Caramel Girl
