Recipe :: Restaurant Style Salsa

Yep, it's officially spring and I'm longing for a bit of sun ripened tomatoes. Honestly, I'm longing for more than just sun ripened tomatoes...but my dream of said tomatoes and other nostalgic wants {biking, hiking, margaritas, and warm sunshine} will have to wait until July/August. Until then, I'll keep dreaming while running my fabulous handmade caramel shop!

During the winter months, my go to salsa is : homemade : from a can of tomatoes! Nice and simple - just a food processor or blender will do!

Restaurant Style : Medium - Hot Salsa

1 can 32 oz diced tomatoes
1 small onion or 1/2 large
{2} jalapeno peppers
{1} habanero pepper {or as much as you can handle...}
1/4 cup fresh cilantro {or more}
1 lime juiced
1 tsp sugar {optional}
salt & pepper to taste

Add this to eggs in the morning. Heaven!

Roughly chop onions and dice peppers into small pieces. Add to food processor. Pulse until integrated {5-6 pulses}. Add can of tomatoes. Pulse {6-10} more times to combine.

Toss in cilantro, lime juice and sugar. Pulse again a few times. Season with salt & pepper to taste. 

Note: This is one of those recipes that can be tailored based on your preferences. For mild salsa, leave out habanero, for hot salsa, add more chilies! Enjoy!
